Schedule problems

First the schedule was lost. Then, the schedule wasn't legible through the scanner. Problems resolved by copying and printing the schedule and posting them in various locations. We love you Ezra and we are excited about your wonderful growth. Love and prayer for all of the teachers who will be helping and guiding you, this semester.

A Wonderful Rainbow marked feeling "pumped" on the day before VBS!

I don't know why mom, but I feel "pumped" about VBS? Is that a question or a declaration? I take it as a declaration. VBS is really a summer phenomenon. Every child of mine has a VBS story or two. From the first broken arm and the first chicken pox episode on the first day of VBS to the storm filled moment of this one, we have always had a visitation and expectation of God's fun-filled speaking in our youthful pursuit of Him. I expect that God will be more present in our VBS than we are expecting Him. Just like the rainbow we didn't expect and the thunder that comes after the lightning, when we make way for His communications, He talks to us. Keep expecting!

Don't Eat In the Dark, Mommy!

I had asked someone to bring me up a piece of the celebration pizza for Emily's birthday party. My body was aching from the aerobic adventure those delightful toddlers put me through each day. So, I was three sheets to the wind when the pizza was delivered.

My attentive middleschooler had taken upon himself to play "delivery boy". I was salivating at the bit for the pizza, even in my sleep. I could smell a wonderfully clean smell of the plate that it was delivered on, but this didn't seem unusual to me. What did seem unusual, was the hardness of the crust. I couldn't get my teeth through the slice. So, as my tongue searched the crust for a soft spot, the strong and pungent flavor of Palmolive became the wake up call. It woke me, but not enough to turn on the light. I decided that it was best to forget the plate, eat the cheese off the top and call it a night. I was not really awake, anyway.

The clean up crew came to take the plate and offer more and there I was, delightfully engrossed in another dream. What pizza? I rolled over for the second time. More pizza? Alright, already, just take the plate. It is filled with soap suds and the crust which I cannot even get my teeth through and bring me another. No plate maybe, this time. I am awake enough to chew it. It was Evvy or Ethan, one of the children who don't try to engage me in a discourse when they see that I am asleep. So they brought it no plate and again I couldn't eat anything but the cheese on top. I did that and I have to say that I will never find the two delightful dreams that they roused me from again. Hunger won out on sleep. And it would have been better to have woken up and chosen the slices that I could have bitten.

Anyway, Don't sleep in the subway song is replaced in my mind with "Don't eat in the Dark, Mommy!"

I am so grateful that you were able to come with us to Chowan...

It was a beautiful cloud filled sky, with the sun smattering us here and there with a blinding brightness. Spring is just around the corner and it keeps poking its head out so that we don't know how to dress for the weather. Yesterday was no exception in this. It was a lot cooler than you could tell from looking outside. It looked in the 60s, but it was in the 40s and we were chilly every where we went. Why is it cold today? was the emotional question. It was 70 a couple of days ago, but not today. We carried jackets and we carried sweaters, but the briskness had to hit you before you would put them on. It was delightful to hear your musical choices. They are dynamic and youthful and swiftly motivating. What a great strong fellow to carry sisters bags as you did? I am glad we were able to share that 10 hour journey with you. I love you so much!
