The Appian Way??? It's Sumner or Sumter not Sutter.

I think you will find this amusing... My dad and I used to ride to Brooklyn in the car together. He found every shortcut, it seemed and I just watched him drive through all kinds of neighborhoods, to get to a place that the highway would take us in a minute, it seemed. He knew the streets like a boy who had walked those streets and learned them by heart. When he was a boy, you couldn't even drive on some of them much less walk or a gangwar might ensue. We found one street off of Linden Blvd that went all the way into Brooklyn and he would say it to me everyday as we traversed the "mean" morning traffic to find a "quicker way". Is this quicker? I would think to myself, though I would never say it. It was Sutter or Sumter or something like that. This song makes me think of those long silent trips.
