I am so grateful that you were able to come with us to Chowan...

It was a beautiful cloud filled sky, with the sun smattering us here and there with a blinding brightness. Spring is just around the corner and it keeps poking its head out so that we don't know how to dress for the weather. Yesterday was no exception in this. It was a lot cooler than you could tell from looking outside. It looked in the 60s, but it was in the 40s and we were chilly every where we went. Why is it cold today? was the emotional question. It was 70 a couple of days ago, but not today. We carried jackets and we carried sweaters, but the briskness had to hit you before you would put them on. It was delightful to hear your musical choices. They are dynamic and youthful and swiftly motivating. What a great strong fellow to carry sisters bags as you did? I am glad we were able to share that 10 hour journey with you. I love you so much!

This Past Thursday, we didn't forget you!

We left the gas station at 5:30 and we were supposed to be picking you up at 5:30. I can't work late on Thursday for my singing soldier.

Your father says, Oh yes, we have to pick up Ezra. WHAT? I said they close that school down at 5:30, I think. We are late? I was livid. I kept my composure and your father drove like a maniac. We were silent going there for my baby. They are going to take him to the Police station. They are going to close the school on him. He's probably afraid.

Of course you weren't afraid. Walker men are much more resilient than I think they are. They are strong and powerful men and determined to make the best of situations. I learned that about you, as your father silently and strongly sped to pick you up.

We had a good Christmas. I got a tablet and you.

Learning to use technology and not be used by technology, has always been my goal. I can't really find the balance, but I am looking for it.

I love that you are an innovator{somebody looking for a better way}. I don't like that you cut holes in my favorite jacket. A pocket is not a hole. Today we are scheduled to buy the supplies to make a pocket for your tablet. How does a man carry a tablet? I love that question. My goal is to help you think through this and carry it with masculinity and style. I am trying to hide my tablet from the home police{Elyse} who would whip me sore, if she saw me carrying it to school. She is right and you are right to think through this problem. She will frisk me mother. She will find it and I will be in trouble! I understand. Don't carry it to school. Carry it other places and we will make a pocket. I love your design for the jacket. Don't cut holes. Add material to make a better pocket! also I want to work with brother and you on writing Thank you notes. Maybe? We'll see if we can't get both done on one day. Thank you Martin Luther King for a day to celebrate Thankfulness and God honoring resourcefulness!

Are there any more questions?

God's Boys will be good boys!

What, my son? What, son of my womb? What, son of my vows?

Fewer questions and more determinations. The twelve's are a season of, "I'm not going to do it that way." It looks like to me. How do you stay respectful to your parents when your mind is taking their deeds apart and weighing them as to their validity in your life, long-term. It is hard! I love you mom, but what you are saying is not valid to this point...Sometimes that is the case.

Sometimes mom is talking to her little fellow, on the knee and you are a man. Sometimes mom is just gabbing to her rambunctious jumping bean and you are a settled man. I didn't ask you that, mother? I know you didn't. Just humor my answering the questions that are unasked, son. It is a habit and I love you and sometimes it is just mother talk. Keep weighing our validity and make your determinations and become a better man for it.

Happy New Year!

Did you have a good Christmas?

As I watch you enjoying your recent Wii acquisition, I do wonder if you are able to articulate anymore, with all of the visual technology to engage you? If you are, could you send me a podcast of your most memorable delight of this 12th Christmas. The joy of seeing your happy face, on Christmas morning can only be outdone, by your own words telling me of what is the engagement that delights you most. I do hope you will share this with me.
